Most of our homes are rented to our tenants. Sometimes tenants want to buy them from us and there are two ways this could happen.

Right to Buy
If you became a Cantref tenant before the 15th of January 1989, you’re a secure tenant and you may have the right to buy your home at a discounted price – as long as your home hasn’t been specially designed for older people. Any discounts will depend on how long you’ve lived in your home and whether it’s a flat, maisonette or house. There’s a maximum discount of £16,000.If you think you might be eligible to buy your home under the Right to Buy scheme, please contact us for further information.

Right to Acquire
If your home was built or purchased by us after the 1st of April 1997 and you have an assured tenancy, you may have the Right to Acquire your home at a discounted price. You will also need to have been a council or housing association tenant for at least two years. The discount is 25% of the market value of the home up to a maximum of £16,000 but certain types of homes in certain places are excluded. If you would like to find out more please contact us for further information.
