Care & Repair
Care & Repair is a service designed to help older and disabled private tenants or homeowners to remain in their homes when their needs change. It provides help and information with repairs, improvements and/or adaptations, help with applying for grants and finding reputable builders. Home improvements can range from fixing a dripping tap, or the installation of handrails or new locks, to major jobs such as building a specially adapted bathroom or replacing a roof.
The service is carried out by Care & Repair Agencies and there is an agency in every county in Wales - see Care and Repair Cymru for more information. We manage the Care and Repair Agency in Ceredigion which is based in Aberystwyth. We work very closely with other partners, in particular Ceredigion County Council and Hywel Dda NHS Trust. The kind of service we offer is tailored to meeting the needs of people and their homes. We can also discuss ways to improve energy efficiency and we can carry out a safety assessment. These involve visits to assess and advise on safety and security in the home.
