Rent Increases 2010/11
Every year Cantref reviews its rent and service charges in the month of April. Charges are set by Cantref’s Board of Management and will be applicable from Monday 5th April 2010. If your tenancy has commenced within the last 12 months then your rent level will not be changed until April 2011. Whatever, the length of your tenancy any service charges applicable to your home will also be reviewed on 5th April 2010. Every tenant will receive this pack in the post over the next few days.
The rents we charge are regulated by the Welsh Assembly Government and approved by our Board of Management. The Welsh Assembly Government set a “benchmark rent” for different areas in Wales. A benchmark is the rent of 6 differently sized properties averaged out. Unless Cantref conforms with the “benchmark” we will no longer be able to build new homes. Cantref’s rent has to be increased as this is our main source of income for repairs, managing the properties etc. For the financial year 2010-2011, the National Assembly has declared that the increase on the benchmark rent be limited to an average of 2.0%
